Approximately twenty years ago, the anthropologist Igor Kopytoff put forward the idea that, like mankind, also objects have their own “biography”, which reveals the features of a society.
Starting from this theory, the book examines the life of things - and by linking different fields, looks and customs- describes the role that they perform in the everyday reality of human existence and social relations.
In the first part scholars of different disciplines (ethnologists, philosophers, semiologists, sociologists, design historians) explain the concept of “biography of objects” through theoretical reflections and analysis; in the second part many designers who participated in the “Storie di cose” (stories of things) exhibition, that took place in Bolzano in autumn 2007, link their individual stories with those of their objects, evidence of the real relation between the world of humans and the world of things.

INNOVATION OF PIZZA RESTAURANT SPACES AND PREMISES

While waiting to see, in this site, the results of the course entitled Bathroom Design, we point out the third scheduled meeting of the high-training courses managed by Nicola R. Ticozzi for Poli.Design (Milan Polytechnic Association).
Design contribution is always more decisive even in the more traditional catering sectors such as pizza restaurants. Today every consumption experience must be involving, multi-sensory and satisfying also in the aesthetic aspect and premises are progressively transforming into high-design places, that are able to entertain and convey emotions and atmospheres.
The future of catering has already begun, and pizza restaurants are a market which is changing, a market of wide potential for architects and designers who have the creative, aesthetic and design skills required by retail, hospitality and entertainment evolution.

PREPARATIVI DELLA PIOGGIA (rain preparations)

After the perverted televoting and talent-show syndrome stimulated by the recent Sanremo Festival , we design-addicted always remain loyal to the authentic quality dimension.
It came out last autumn but, for esteem and affection, we too want to talk about it, also because  the replies of the critics, during the last months, have been more than flattering. It could seem weird to talk about pop music, but the author of the (debut) album “Preparativi per la pioggia” (rain preparations) is Lorenzo Palmeri, who is a designer and a  singer-songwriter too.
The CD is a collection of “contemporary, original, complex and at the same time direct” songs that can boast the prestigious participation of Franco Battiato, with whom Palmeri makes a duet in the song “Qualsiasi Spinta”, the collaboration of the bass player Saturnino and the presence of Livio Magnini and Andy of Bluvertigo.
Despite the excellent collaborations, it is an original product, without manneristic attitudes. Very refined is the use of electronic shading.
